The History of Plant Bros Corp
Plant Bros Corp was started in 1947 as a post-war enterprise of three brothers; Dave, Buck and Tom Plant. The young firm began by building single family residences in the San Francisco bay area.
At the same time, they repaired ships in the bustling maritime trade. It was this combination of trades from which the Plant logo was conceived, the lower half represents the midsection of a ship and the upper half a building. After the Korean War, the maritime business declined, so the company cut ship services down to a naval architecture activity and concentrated on general construction, fine woodwork and property management.
Plant Bros. Corp. is proud to have been instrumental in the rehabilitation and preservation of several historical buildings in the old North Waterfront Area of San Francisco. These projects involved the conversion of warehouses built in the late nineteenth century into attractive modern office space. In nineteen eighty nine, the company sold its construction and woodworking operations to a family member. Since that time, Plant Bros Corp has concentrated exclusively on property investing, development and management.
Plant Bros. Corp. was also one of the early investors in the conversion of Mather Air Force Base (Sacramento CA.) into a contemporary business office park.
The Plant Bros. Corp of today is a modern and efficient company which manages and invests in their own high quality buildings in the San Francisco, Sacramento and Northern California areas. We are a family-owned business that is proud of its traditions, success and reputation for extraordinary service.
